Karaoke was invented by a Japanese musician, who recorded the music played by an orchestra and then he wrote the lyrics for the melody performed.

Karaoke soon became popular in Japan and spread to the rest of Asia and other countries all over the world. It is so popular in Japan, that there are a lot of Karaoke bars and restaurants. 

In Greece, Karaoke is quite popular as well. Everybody likes to sing at home, pretending to be a star!
